Hotspur Football Club, the precursor to Tottenham Hotspur, was founded by a group of students to All Hallows Church in 1882. Name Hotspur allegedly given according to the name of Sir Henry Percy, also called Harry Hotspur in the works of William Shakespeare, Henry IV part first.
