Exactly when did the club stands still being debated today. There is a written record of the club was founded in 1898 by Joseph Whitaker, a British consultant, which is also believed to be the first president of the club.
However there are other records that explain if the club was officially established on 1 November 1900 under the name Anglo Panormitan Athletic and Football Club. Its founder is Ignazio Majo Pagano, a native of Palermo who studied in London and studying for school football in the UK to then transfer their knowledge to Palermo.
Apart from that, the club name then changed to Palermo Foot-Ball Club in 1907. After World War I, the club re-formed again with the name of Unione Sportiva Palermo. After a long struggle in the lower level, Palermo finally play in Serie A in 1932.
There is no golden era in the body of Palermo. But they had a pretty good record of achievement, that is to finish in the final standings peringkar six Serie A 2005/06.
